Newmans case study by Rombus concrete slab flooring
Industrial case study

Newman’s steel pipe manufacturer’s flooring in WA

The Rombus Fusion V2 system delivered a durable and efficient hardstand solution designed to meet the demands of a high-traffic industrial environment. The system was installed without the need for imported fill, expansion joints, or perimeter edging, providing a streamlined and long-lasting alternative to conventional concrete slabs in remote industrial locations.
A Faster, lower-cost alternative to traditional concrete pavement
The Rombus Fusion V2 system delivered a durable and efficient hardstand solution designed to meet the demands of a high-traffic industrial environment. The installation improved construction efficiency, reduced reliance on traditional pavement methods, and provided a long-term surface solution capable of supporting heavy machinery and ongoing operations in a remote location.

  • 140 tonne Carbon Avoided
  • 21 tonne Plastic Utilised
  • 9 days Reduced Downtime

The Challenge

A leading steel culvert and stormwater pipe manufacturer required a durable hardstand surface for its Newman facility capable of handling continuous heavy vehicle traffic and extreme loading conditions. Operating in a remote location where concrete costs exceed $850/m³, the client needed a solution that could be installed quickly, reduce project costs, and minimise disruption to ongoing operations.

The Solution

Rombus Industries installed 4,500m² of Rombus Fusion V2 across the facility using existing in-situ soils trimmed to level, with no imported fill required. The modular pavement system was installed by a 7-person crew in just 9 days, including a peak pour of 1,250m² in a single day.
